Mixed groups, at your pace

The departures are open: solo travellers, couples and friends from different countries join. So the group walks well together, we read everyone’s form and match pace and experience. If a date does not suit you, we suggest another or a private trip.

Your guide is an AAGM-certified mountain guide authorised by the National Park, with a satellite radio. Fitz Roy Expediciones has been guiding in El Chaltén since 1995.

Questions

What is a group departure?

A fixed date when you join other people, with a mountain guide for the group. It costs less than going private and you do not need to bring a group.

Can I go alone?

Yes. That is what they are for: you join even if you come alone.

How do you put the groups together?

With the sign-up form: experience, pace and what you are after. We match similar profiles so nobody is rushed or waiting.

How fit do I need to be?

Able to walk 6 to 8 hours a day, with climbs, two or three days in a row. No camping experience needed: the tent is already set up.

What is included?

A certified mountain guide (AAGM), the nights at camp with the tent set up, sleeping bag and mat, dinner, breakfast and water.

What is not included?

Los Glaciares National Park entry, lunches (bring your own), a hotel in El Chaltén and the transfer from El Calafate, which we add if you need it.

When do you confirm?

Once we have read your form we message you on WhatsApp to confirm your place. Nothing to pay when you sign up.

What if I would rather go private?

You can, on any date you like. The prices are on each package page.

When are the departures?

December to March. The camps are set up from 15 October to 20 April; April dates are to be confirmed.
