Planning & Booking

How do I book an excursion?

Select your preferred experience and send us a booking request through the website. Our team will confirm availability, price and included services before requesting payment.

Your reservation is confirmed once the required payment has been received and Fitz Roy Expediciones has sent you written confirmation.

We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly between December and March, when guides and services in El Chaltén are in high demand.

Last-minute requests are welcome and will be confirmed whenever availability allows.

Yes. Private guided experiences are available for individuals, couples, families and small groups.

Private departures offer greater flexibility with pace, timing and itinerary. The final price depends on the activity, date and number of participants.

Every adventure page includes estimated distance, duration, elevation gain and difficulty.

If you are unsure, tell us about your recent hiking experience, activity level and expectations. Our team will help you choose an appropriate route.

Most of our day treks do not require previous mountaineering experience, although a reasonable level of fitness is necessary.

Demanding routes, ascents and multi-day expeditions may require previous trekking experience.

We work with small groups to provide closer communication with the guide, greater flexibility and a more personal experience.

Group size varies according to the route, difficulty and operational requirements.

Some activities may be suitable for active children with previous hiking experience.

Participation is evaluated according to the child’s age, experience, physical condition and the selected itinerary.

Available payment methods and payment deadlines will be included in your quotation.

Any applicable bank, card-processing or international transfer costs will be communicated before confirmation.

Date changes may be possible when requested before departure and when guide and service availability allows.

Changes are not guaranteed and may involve price differences or costs from third-party providers.

Cancellation conditions depend on how far in advance the request is received.

Please review our complete Cancellation & Booking Policy for refund periods, date changes, no-shows and weather-related modifications.

On the Mountain

What happens if the weather is bad?

Weather in Patagonia can change rapidly. Rain, wind or cloud do not automatically mean that an excursion will be cancelled.

Our guides evaluate the conditions and may adjust the departure time, route or objective. Safety always takes priority.

Yes. Routes, schedules and objectives may change because of weather, trail conditions, group progress or other safety considerations.

Whenever the original plan is not possible, the guide will try to provide the best safe alternative available.

No. Reaching a summit, lagoon, viewpoint or mountain pass cannot be guaranteed.

Mountain activities depend on weather, terrain and the condition of the group. The guide has final authority over all safety-related decisions.

We work with experienced professional mountain guides selected according to the activity and its technical requirements.

Members of our guiding network include guides with recognised qualifications, including UIMLA certification.

Suitable trekking footwear with adequate grip, waterproof clothing and warm layers are essential for mountain activities in Patagonia.

A complete packing list will be provided before departure according to the selected activity.

Technical equipment is included when specifically stated on the adventure page or booking confirmation.

Personal clothing and footwear are normally the guest’s responsibility.

Inclusions vary between activities. Some excursions include transportation, meals or a box lunch, while others offer them as optional additions.

Please check the “What’s Included” section of the selected experience or your booking confirmation.

Your meeting point and departure time will be provided in the booking confirmation.

Depending on the activity, departure may be from El Chaltén, your accommodation or another agreed location.
