Mountain travel requires flexibility. Weather, trail conditions and other circumstances may affect the planned itinerary. This policy is intended to establish clear and fair booking conditions while prioritising the safety of our guests, guides and operational team.
Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to Fitz Roy Expediciones.
Refunds, when applicable, will be made using the original payment method whenever possible. Bank fees, exchange-rate differences and payment-processing costs are the guest’s responsibility.
Requests to change a booking date must be submitted before the scheduled departure.
Whenever operational capacity and guide availability allow, Fitz Roy Expediciones may transfer the booking to another available date. Date changes are not guaranteed and may be subject to price differences, third-party costs or seasonal rate adjustments.
Once a date has been changed, the original cancellation conditions and payment deadlines will continue to apply.
Weather is an inherent and unpredictable part of mountain travel in Patagonia. Rain, snow, strong winds, reduced visibility, extreme temperatures, trail conditions and other environmental factors do not automatically constitute grounds for cancellation by the guest or for a refund.
Fitz Roy Expediciones may change the departure time, route, itinerary, objective, duration or meeting point whenever conditions require it. A safe alternative itinerary may be considered fulfilment of the booked mountain service, even when the original objective cannot be reached.
If conditions prevent the excursion from departing, Fitz Roy Expediciones will prioritise:
Payments are generally non-refundable when an activity is cancelled, modified or interrupted due to weather, trail conditions, park restrictions, road closures or other safety circumstances beyond the reasonable control of Fitz Roy Expediciones, except where a refund is mandatory under applicable law.
Once an excursion has begun, no refund will apply if the itinerary must be modified, shortened or terminated for safety reasons.
The guide has final authority over all safety-related decisions during the activity.
The guide may delay the departure, select an alternative route, change the objective, turn the group around or terminate the excursion whenever they determine that continuing would expose any participant or member of the team to an unacceptable level of risk.
These decisions may be based on weather, terrain, river levels, snow or ice conditions, visibility, wildfire, participant health, physical condition, pace, behaviour, equipment or any other relevant safety consideration.
Reaching a summit, viewpoint, lagoon, pass or any other specific objective is never guaranteed. A guide’s safety decision is final and must be followed by all participants.
Guests must arrive with the clothing, footwear and personal equipment communicated by Fitz Roy Expediciones for the booked activity and expected conditions.
Appropriate trekking footwear with adequate grip is mandatory. Depending on the activity and forecast, guests may also be required to carry waterproof clothing, warm layers, gloves, a hat, sun protection, sufficient water, food and any additional equipment specified before departure.
The guide may refuse participation or cancel a guest’s departure if their clothing, footwear or equipment is considered inadequate or unsafe. In such cases, the booking will be treated as a guest cancellation and no refund or compensation will apply.
Fitz Roy Expediciones may require the use of specific safety or technical equipment during the excursion. Refusal to use required equipment or follow the guide’s instructions may result in removal from the activity without refund.
Guests are responsible for selecting an activity appropriate to their health, experience and physical condition.
Before departure, guests must disclose any illness, injury, allergy, medication, pregnancy, medical condition or other circumstance that could affect their participation or require assistance. Failure to disclose relevant information may result in the guest being refused participation or removed from the activity without refund.
If a guest becomes ill or injured before the excursion, Fitz Roy Expediciones may evaluate the individual circumstances and, at its sole discretion, offer a date change or credit. Supporting medical documentation may be requested. Reprogramming is not automatic and remains subject to availability, operational feasibility and any costs already incurred or committed to third-party providers.
Illness, injury or physical difficulty arising during the activity does not automatically entitle the guest to a refund. Any decision to continue, modify or terminate participation will be made by the guide based on safety considerations.
Guests are strongly advised to obtain travel insurance covering trip cancellation, medical treatment, evacuation, rescue and adventure activities in Patagonia.
Guests must arrive at the designated meeting point at the confirmed time.
A guest who does not arrive on time may miss the departure. Fitz Roy Expediciones is not required to delay the group or modify the operation due to a late arrival.
Guests who fail to attend without prior notice will be considered a no-show. No refund, credit or date change will apply.
Participants must follow all instructions issued by the guide and respect applicable park regulations, environmental standards and group-safety procedures.
Fitz Roy Expediciones may refuse or terminate a guest’s participation if their behaviour is unsafe, disruptive, abusive, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or places themselves, other participants, guides or the environment at risk.
No refund or compensation will apply in these circumstances.
Fitz Roy Expediciones will not be responsible for delays, itinerary changes, interruptions or cancellations caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control. These may include, but are not limited to:
Fitz Roy Expediciones will make reasonable efforts to offer a suitable alternative, rescheduling or credit, subject to availability and recoverable third-party costs.
Some bookings may include services operated by independent providers, such as transfers, accommodation, navigation, meals or specialised activities.
These services may be subject to the provider’s own cancellation and modification conditions. Any amount already paid or contractually committed to a third party may be non-refundable and will be deducted from any refund or credit otherwise available.
By confirming a reservation or making any payment, the guest acknowledges that they have read, understood and accepted this Cancellation & Booking Policy.
The person making a booking on behalf of other participants is responsible for communicating these conditions to every member of the group.
This policy is subject to applicable Argentine law. Nothing in these conditions limits any mandatory consumer right that cannot legally be waived.
