Remote Expeditions Across the Fitz Roy Massif and Los Glaciares National Park
Explore Our Patagonia Expeditions
Patagonia is best experienced over several days in the mountains. Our guided multi-day treks take you beyond the popular day trails into remote valleys, glaciers, mountain passes and backcountry camps across the Fitz Roy Massif and Los Glaciares National Park.
Since 1995, Fitz Roy Expediciones has specialized in leading small groups through some of Patagonia’s most iconic and challenging trekking routes. Every expedition is planned according to weather conditions, trail conditions and the experience of the group, allowing you to travel safely while discovering landscapes few visitors ever reach.
Whether you are looking for the Huemul Circuit, Campamento Poincenot, Paso del Cuadrado or a remote Patagonian crossing, our local mountain guides help you experience these mountains with decades of knowledge and respect for the landscape.
For more than 30 years, Fitz Roy Expediciones has guided hikers through the trails surrounding El Chaltén and the Fitz Roy Massif. Our approach is based on local knowledge, small groups and respect for the mountain environment.
Every trek is planned according to trail conditions, weather and the experience of the group. Rather than following a fixed schedule, our guides adapt each day to provide the safest and most rewarding experience possible.
Whether you’re visiting Patagonia for the first time or returning to explore new trails, our goal is simple: to help you experience these mountains with the insight of people who have spent decades walking them.
A multi-day trek is more than a longer hike. It is an opportunity to experience Patagonia beyond the day trails, moving through the landscape one stage at a time and spending nights in the mountains.
Each day reveals a different side of the region, from forests and alpine lakes to glaciers, remote valleys and mountain passes. It is a journey shaped not only by the route, but also by the weather, the rhythm of the group and the experience of travelling through one of the world’s last great wilderness areas.
Most of our day treks do not require previous mountain experience, although a reasonable level of fitness is recommended. Some hikes, such as Laguna de los Tres, involve a full day of hiking with significant elevation gain, while others are more accessible. If you are unsure which trek is right for you, we can help you choose according to your experience and expectations.
Our guided day hikes range from moderate walks to challenging mountain trails. Each trek differs in distance, elevation gain and hiking time. Every adventure page includes detailed information so you can choose a hike that matches your fitness level and outdoor experience.
We recommend sturdy hiking shoes or boots, layered clothing, a waterproof jacket, sun protection, sunglasses, water and a small backpack. Weather in Patagonia can change quickly, even in summer, so it is important to be prepared for wind, rain and temperature changes during the day.
Patagonia’s weather is unpredictable, and our guides constantly assess mountain conditions. If necessary, departure times, routes or objectives may be adjusted to keep the experience safe and appropriate for the group.
This depends on the trek you choose. Some day hikes include a packed lunch, while others include guiding services only. Each adventure page clearly explains what is included so you know what to expect before booking.
Yes. Private guided treks are available for individuals, couples, families and small groups. A private guide allows more flexibility in pace, timing and itinerary, while offering a more personal experience in the mountains.
The main trekking season runs from October to April, when trails are generally snow-free and daylight hours are longer. Every season offers different mountain conditions, and we can help you choose the best hike for the dates of your visit.
Yes. Most of our guided day treks take place within Los Glaciares National Park, one of Argentina’s most remarkable protected areas. Our guides help visitors understand not only the trails but also the natural history, geology and mountain environment of the Fitz Roy Massif.
