Experience Patagonia beyond the day hike. Spend the night at Campamento Poincenot, where quiet forests, changing mountain light and unforgettable sunrises reveal a side of the Fitz Roy Massif that few visitors ever experience.
Campamento Poincenot has been the traditional mountain camp beneath Mount Fitz Roy for decades. Surrounded by native lenga forest and mountain streams, it offers a rare opportunity to remain in the heart of the Fitz Roy Massif after the valley begins to empty and the pace of the mountains quietly takes over.
As the afternoon fades, the last hikers return to El Chaltén and the atmosphere changes completely. The forest grows quieter, the granite walls reflect the final light of the day and the sounds of wind and water replace the activity of the trail.
Spending the night here means experiencing the mountains without rushing. It allows time to sit outside the tent, watch the light move across the peaks, wake before sunrise and walk towards Laguna de los Tres while the valley is still silent.
With your campsite prepared before you arrive, you can enjoy the comfort of travelling with a lighter backpack while staying fully connected to the landscape. More than a place to sleep, Campamento Poincenot offers the chance to experience Patagonia at the pace of the mountains
The campground offers basic facilities managed by Los Glaciares National Park, including toilets and access to fresh mountain water.
Campamento Poincenot is the traditional mountain camp for hikers exploring Laguna de los Tres and the Fitz Roy Massif. Located beneath Mount Fitz Roy in the heart of Los Glaciares National Park, it has served for decades as the natural overnight base for trekkers and climbers visiting this part of Patagonia.
Reaching the camp means leaving the rhythm of El Chaltén behind. The trail winds through native lenga forest before opening into a landscape of granite peaks, rivers and glaciers. As the last day hikers return to town, the valley becomes quieter and the mountains reveal a different atmosphere, shaped by changing light, fresh mountain air and the silence of the surrounding forest.
The campground offers basic facilities managed by the National Park, while our camping service allows you to arrive with your campsite already prepared.
